About the Authors
Catherine Jago has been in the refined oil products business for more than 30 years. From trading to broking, from reporting to management consulting, oil is in her blood. She is a Senior Associate of Consilience and CEO of CJH Energy Ltd. During her more than 30 years of oil industry experience she has worked for BP Oil International in price forecasting and refinery operations, as a price reporter with ICIS-LOR, a broker with Poten and Partners, a trader with Ciren Energy Ltd, a management consultant with Arthur D Little, a credit investigator with MRC Oxford, a lecturer with the Oxford Princeton Programme and with Consilience.
She specialises in consultancy projects with state and private energy companies worldwide, and expert witness work. She has advised in more than 60 trading disputes involving crude oil, oil products and shipping litigation, working closely with lawyers and their clients to resolve trading disputes arising from issues such as contract discrepancies, hedging, off-specification material, shipping delays and oil and shipping standard industry practice. She therefore brings a wealth and breadth of hands-on experience to this book.
She has previously contributed two Chapters to the Oil Traders Manual on credit control and pricing. Catherine has a first degree in Biochemistry and Toxicology, is a qualified barrister and a member of the Energy Institute.
Liz Bossley has more than 30 years’ of experience in international energy markets, spanning trading, risk management, marketing and extensive involvement of contract negotiations. Liz is the CEO of the Consilience Energy Advisory Group Ltd, which she established in 1999. Consilience includes in its client list major and independent oil companies, utilities, shipping and pipeline transportation entities, regulatory authorities, taxation authorities, trade associations and futures exchanges.
Liz has acted as expert witness in a wide range of more than 25 trading disputes internationally in the field of oil, gas and emissions trading. This has involved appearances in both high courts and before arbitration panels. She is a certified member of the Expert Witness Institute.
She is the principal author of “The Hole in the Barrel”, “Trading Natural Gas in the UK”, “Bossley’s Guide to Energy Conversions”, “BFO: The Future Market”, “Project Finance Using the Forward Oil Curve”, “Climate Change and Emissions Trading: What Every Business Needs to Know” and “Emissions Trading and the City of London”. She was the joint author of a report to the G20 in October 2011 on oil price reporting agencies, on behalf of OPEC, the IEA, the IEF and IOSCO. She has been an adviser to both UK HMRC and the Norwegian Norm Price Board on tax reference pricing issues.
